Highlights and Lowlights from this week of 12/1 – 12/5/14
Highlights:
Charles Barkley Speaks Some Truth
Charles Barkley created a storm this week by courageously speaking his mind about the events that happened in Ferguson, Missouri recently and race relations in general. Investor’s Business Daily’s editorial page has done a nice job of commenting on this.
An open, honest, and civil discussion on race and race relations is welcomed and we applaud Mr. Barkley for speaking his mind and not backing down from the heat.
Ted Cruz on Amnesty
Texas Senator Ted Cruz spoke on Wednesday about defunding President Obama’s amnesty plan.
Mr. Cruz said, “Republicans in Congress should use every tool at our disposal—our constitutional checks and balances—to stop President Obama’s amnesty.”
We thank Senator Cruz for speaking up and actually following the Constitution. The framers of the Constitution specifically gave the House of Representatives the “power of the purse” to which it has enormous influence on policy.
No doubt that Senator Cruz will once again be a target for more arrows from the establishment within his own party but he can definitely handle it and that is why grassroots conservatives love this guy and he is one our leaders in the U.S. Senate.
Lowlights:
GOP Leadership
Election victories are political capital, especially after landslides like the one that took place on November 4th.
So it is painful, though not unexpected, to watch Mitch McConnell and John Boehner blow it by refusing to stand up to President Obama’s amnesty push.
The sad reality is this: the GOP leadership and many rank and file congressional members are “owned” by the Chamber of Commerce and crony business leaders who want amnesty.
Hillary Clinton
Speaking at Georgetown University on Wednesday, the former Secretary of State advocated for the the United States to “empathize” and show “respect” towards its enemies.
You mean the same enemies who record and post online videos of them beheading Americans?
These enemies are savages and we do not need to “empathize” with or “show respect” towards.
These comments further cement (is that possible?) how important it is that we keep her as far from the White House in 2017 as possible. Her words are dangerous.
