First & Final blogIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, one of Conservative First’s leaders, will be addressing Congress on March 3 to denounce any agreement with Iran that allows the country to retain centrifuges and continue its desire to build a nuclear weapon and “to speak up for the very survival of my country” as he firmly says.

Benjamin Netanyahu
Bibi Netanyahu

What is wrong with that? Well, according to the administration, many members of the president’s First & Final blogparty in Congress, and the media, Mr. Netanyahu is disrespecting the president by accepting the congressional offer and by interfering with the peace talks President Obama is seeking. Consequently, they are going to express their disdain by boycotting the prime minister’s speech. And because the invitation came from the Speaker of the House and not the president himself, protocol was breached and the leader of Israel should not be welcomed nor heard.

Regardless of how the invitation was handled, to shun Mr. Netanyahu is not only as Senator Marco Rubio says “shameful” but also shows solidarity with Iran, a country that the prime minister calls “the greatest terrorist regime in the world.” Just this week as Fox News pointed out, Iran has been secretly aiding terrorists groups across the Middle East with its Unit-190 cell. No one should be surprised.

The United States needs to support Israel and this upcoming speech on March 3 by its leader is critically important for both countries. No country is more threatened by a nuclear Iran than Israel. Members of Congress need to attend the speech by PM Benjamin Netanyahu and hear the dangers his country faces firsthand.

To those who decide to skip the speech, you are putting partisan politics ahead of standing with our great ally Israel who is trying to prevent Iran from becoming a grave threat to the free world.

Putting faith into peace talks with Iran in hope of convincing them to play nice is not an option for us.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, we stand strong with you and with Israel.

FIRST & Final thoughts of the week that was …

Red scroll pen on white no textFIRST…can anyone believe that it has been over two and a half years since the Aurora, CO theater shooting tragedy when 12 people lost their lives and countless others suffered injuries, both physically and emotionally, and yet the monster who inflicted this unspeakable act of violence has still not been tried? Our legal system can and should work more quickly to bring this sub-human creature to justice and help offer some peace to those victims who deserve it most.

Red scroll pen on white no textHoward Dean attacked Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker on Thursday for saying that Mr. Walker is “unfit” to be president because the 2016 hopeful left school during his senior year at Marquette before completing his degree. Mr. Dean, if it takes fancy degrees from Occidental College, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School to add nearly $8 trillion to the national debt, make the United States weaker with feckless foreign policy, and take over 1/6 of the U.S. economy by nationalizing healthcare, we will gladly elect a college drop out over a community organizer any day.

Red scroll pen on white no textWill Mitch McConnell show some leadership and change the senate rules by invoking the “nuclear option” in order to bypass a Democratic filibuster and move the House-passed Department of Homeland Security funding bill forward? Reps. Raul Labrador of Idaho and Tim Huelskamp of Kansas are proposing just that and argue that only 51 votes should be needed to move forward on spending bills and we whole-heartedly agree. If the GOP is serious about revoking Obama’s unconstitutional executive actions on amnesty, they should change the rules if need be to pass the bill. If not, what was the purpose of voting them into the majority?

Red scroll pen on white no textFinal…At a private fundraiser event in New York City on Wednesday night, 2016 hopeful Jeb Bush raised money for his super PAC “Right to Rise” by charging $100K per ticket! As we have been pointing out for the past year, the former Florida governor seems to be taking a page right out of 2012 nominee Mitt Romney’s playbook: raise tons of money early from the top 1%. Well we all know how well that played out for Mr. Romney. He used all that cash to destroy his grassroots conservative primary hopefuls, coasted to the nomination, failed to attack his general election opponent harder than he did during the primaries, and eventually lost a very winnable race. Don’t say we didn’t warn you if it happens all over again.
