Dr. Sethi is an outsider citizen candidate unlike his opponent who would be another Mitch McConnell lapdog in the Senate Chamber.
Primary elections are where the fight for conservatism begins, and although President Trump has endorsed his opponent, Conservative First believes that Dr. Manny Sethi is the right choice for Tennessee and we are throwing our support behind him in the United States Senate primary being held on Thursday August 6th.
The citizens of Tennessee have a crucial decision to make in the primary when choosing the candidate to replace the retiring Senator Lamar Alexander, the truly moderate and ultimate establishmentarian. For far too long, Sen. Alexander has been occupying the senate seat from a very conservative state, and yet his voting record is more in line with the senators across the aisle. His Conservative First Index (CFI) score registered a dismal 28!
President Trump’s endorsement of Bill Hagerty in this race is mildly disappointing because of the candidate’s establishment ties. Not exactly draining the swamp but the president does reward loyalty. Mr. Hagerty also has the endorsements of Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Tom Cotton among others. However, he also has the full support of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and one must wonder if Hagerty will become another one of Mitch’s lapdogs in the Senate Chamber.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sethi has the endorsements of Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz who hope the doctor will help strengthen the conservative anti-establishment ranks in the senate.
This primary race has largely been about who is the most loyal to President Trump and who is the authentic conservative. That is fine and dandy. When our research team looked at each candidates’s issues, both Sethi and Hagerty expressed the same platitudes about being the biggest supporter of President Trump and the most conservative. However, the candidate we feel most likely to support the president and help implement a solid conservative agenda is Dr. Manny Sethi.
Dr. Manny Sethi is an outsider who unlike his opponent was not a delegate for 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush; did not donate at least $50,000 to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2012; and did not serve on both John McCain and Mitt Romney’s presidential transition planning boards.
Both Hagerty or Sethi would be major upgrades and far better for Tennessee than Senator Alexander and the recently displaced anti-Trump Bob Corker. Unfortunately, those men set the bar extremely low. That is why we prefer the conservative outsider candidate over another establishment swamp creature endorsed by Mitch McConnell. We cannot afford another six years with a senate occupant we cannot rely on to push the conservative agenda.
This November, conservatives have a golden opportunity to strengthen the United States Senate by swapping out a milquetoast senator with a solid conservative. We encourage the citizens of The Volunteer State to vote for Dr. Manny Sethi in the August 6th primary.
